I have used Hostgator. They are cheap and i only pay 7.95 for unlimited space, band with, and domain hosting. I have not really had any problems with them so far, but every company has their issues.

I recommend one of these: http://www.top3hosts.com
iPage has the best offer right now.
Their standard price is $84/year ($6.95) but they have
a 50% sale, one year of hosting for $42.00.
Their plan includes:
Unlimited disk space
Unlimited bandwidth
Unlimited Domain hosting
(but you have to pay for the each additional
domain name registration, of course)
Free domain name
Price: $42/year ($3.50)
They have one of the most popular hosting platforms, which currently hosts over a million websites. They’re also one of the oldest hosting companies, founded in 1998.

I have been using them: http://www.ixwebhosting-unlimited-pro.moneysavecenter.com as I get many different IPs, it costs $60 a year (including 3 free domains)..
I also started up with these a while back http://webhosting.moneysavecenter.com/byet as they were only $35.88 USD Annually (with a Free Domain) and then I moved on to their VPS.
Both of them are quite good.
Anyway, good luck!

When setting up a website, the most important thing would be to pick a good web hosting company is:
1- Fast and Reliable
2- Uptime
3- Technical Support
4- Easy to use Control Panel
5- Emails should be work properly
I owned 31 websites and i tried different hosting companies including, DomainBank, iPower, iXWebHosting, FatCow but i found Globat is the best of all and most appreciated thing in Globat is technical Support and easy to use and manage Control panel, they are providing unlimited disk space, with unlimited emails and databases. Where you can host unlimited websites with databases.
In any case, picking which web host you want to subscribe to would be a matter of personal opinion and website needs. For a low-end private blog the free web hosts would likely suffice, however for formal, nonprofit and even certain smaller business websites, the cheaper or mid range paid services would be ideal. The cheapest web hosting company is not always the best for the website after all
